All participants and mentors were welcomed by teacher and students of VKV Balijan at the entrance.

On 2nd October 2016, the school formally welcomed the students from different school to this three days Camp. The total seven number of school participated in this Camp. They were – VKV Balijan – 14 students, Govt. Hr. Sec. School Balijan – 16 students, Govt. Middle School, Upper Tubung – 3 students, Govt. Middle School, Lankha – 13 students, Mahatma Gandhi Middle School, Dufflaghar – 33 students, Govt. Middle school, Bormai  - 10 students & Govt. Middle School, Doriabill – 12 students. Total numbers of students were 101girls.

There was a prayer in the evening at 5:45p.m. to 06:15 p.m., which was guided by Sri Amitava Mandal Sir. After the prayer, there was a introduction of students & teacher and the house formation. The house names given after the names of the rivers – (i) Bhagirathi, (ii) Ganga, (iii) Gangotri, (iv) Alakananda, (v) Meghna. After the group formation, Principal Didi addressed the participants.
On 3rd October 2016 the day began with the morning prayer, which was guided by Sri A. Mandal sir. There was yoga for student, which was guided by Su. Jumpi Lona Didi and assists by Su. Mandi Limbu Didi and Su. Amken Didi. Some warm-up exercise, Pranayam, Surya Namaskar practiced in this Yoga – asana hour.

VKV Balijan celebrated its Universal Brotherhood Day with great gusto and enthusiasm on the 11th of this month in the school premises during 10.30am to 12.40 pm. The day remained memorable by the cultural performance of students and the address of Chief Guest Shri. Tana Puna Tara, ZPM of Papumpare district, who graced the occasion as the chief Guest. The whole campus as well as prayer hall was cleaned and decorated with multi-coloured papers ,flags, wall Magazine and Exhibition  of pictures drawn by students.

The program began with lighting the lamp accompanied by Mangalacharan. The Principal spoke a few words to welcome the ZPM  and other guests. It was followed by Importance of the day from Sri Tana Tatup , Alumni and Vivekananda Kendra’s Karyakartha. There were ten cultural Programs, but  the hallmark of the function was the English Drama ‘Based on Nirjas Life’ presented by cl.V to X students which made 25% audience to cry.  The speech delivered by the chief guest was incredible to the celebration. He included following points :

The students of class x conducted Guru Purnima Programme on 19th July 2016 with feeling of great sensibility and enthusiasm in the school prayer hall during 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The day remained memorable by the activities and sharing the views on Guru with stories along with immense feeling. The programme was overwhelmed by the presence of Sri Viod Tanti, Headmaster of Mahatma Gandhi Highschool Daflaghar who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The complete programme was organized and executed systematically by the students of class X under the guidance of class teacher.

The following activities of class X students astonished all teachers :

International yoga day was observed in VKV Balijan with lot of enthusiasm.

On 20th June House-wise Yoga Competition was announced for students in two groups (V to VII and VIII to X).

On 21st June, Yoga demonstration was conducted for classes I to V during 5th and 6th period by Smt. Anjali Das. Also as per announcement house-wise “Surya Namaskar” competition was held in prayer hall during 7th & 8th period. All the houses performed “Surya Namaskar” perfectly with competitive spirit. Their chanting of Bij Mantra, Posture, Position, Synchronization and Involvement of all was judged by the judges.

Su.Upasana Sharma addressed the students highlighting the benefit of yoga practice and spoke on the importance of the day.

VKV Balijan conducted 16th UTSARG SAMAROH from 25 to 27 January 2016. The Inaugural function was graced by the chief guest Shri Likha Teji, Deputy Secretary, Education in the presence of Unnikrishnan Sir, E.O, VKV APT, Krishna Kumar Sir, Member VKV, and APT. The main resource person Shri Abhisek Dave from Chinmaya Mission was also present in the occasion as a guest. Students from Six VKVs were the participants (VKV Shergaon, Wessang, VKV Itanagar, VKV Jirdin, Nivedita Vihar & VKV Balijan). Total number of participants was 201 including boys and girls.Total no. of boys were 57 girls 144 in which 86 were of Sanskrit and 115 of Hindi.

Shri Abhisek Sir took numbers of Hari Om Session with a formula “My transformation transforms the nation”. Through Power point presentation he interacted about different levels of transformation. He also mentioned about PATRIOTISM, TYAGA, DHARMA, GYANAN, and spoke about ACT which means appreciation, change and transform. All the guests and the resource persons were also felicitated during the programme.

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Balijan celebrated 153rd Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda as well as ‘National Youth day’ with great pomp and gaiety. The occasion was graced by Smt. Indira Malo, IAS, Commissioner (R.D & P.R), the other dignified guests were Shri M. Loyi EAC,Balijan, School supporting members including H.G.B and parents. There were around 800 people witnessed a cultural programme by students. The Chief guest addressed by highlighting various messages of  Swami Vivekananda and inspired the students to Concentrate on girls education & their responsibilities towards Society. Beautiful cultural programme was presented by students. The overall programme was quite smooth and Successful.

VKV,  Balijan celebrated ‘Library Week’ w.e.f 7th December’2015. Each day various activities were held like, presenting ‘Book Review’ by class-X students in morning assembly ; Visiting Library by students (Class wise) wherein, books of various kinds were displayed for reading; Book-Donation Drive; on 9th Dec. a small programme was conducted. A Guest-speaker, Shri J. Chakraborty (Sr. teacher of Govt. H.S.School, Bjn.) spoke about the ‘Significance & Methods of reading Library books/Novels’. Shri Anjan Purkayastha gave a review with PPT on “The world of Novels.” Students also presented Book Review in the programme. On 12th Dec.  Deepsikha Bishwas also presented a Book review during the morning assembly. Overall, the students were invited and inspired for more reading activities. Hence, the whole week was filled with various activities for students and teachers and made the week quite effective & purposeful.
