The participants from all 6 clusters (48 boys + 48 girls = 96 ) and 17 escort teachers reported VKV Majuli as per planned schedule before 3.00 PM on 9th December 2016.
Inaugural function on 10-12-2016 at 9.30 a.m
The programme started with traditional welcome to the Satradhikar at the hall gate. Deputy Commissioner who agreed to be the chief guest could not attend due to sudden visit of the Chief Justice to Majuli. All other dignitaries arrived timely at the programme venue. The details of inaugural and valedictory programmes are given below separately.
Notable Points about the programme:
Remarkable contribution of Shri Vasudev Upadhyaya Principal VKV Majuli and his team consisting of teachers, student volunteers, parents and well-wishers of the school who joined in various arrangements in the school made the whole atmosphere homely and comfortable for the visiting team, in spite of the constraints of space and materials in the school.
Presence of dignitaries:
a) Shri Vaibhav Nimbalkar (IPS) in the valedictory function was very inspiring. He had good knowledge of Gita and the messages delivered by him (being an IPS Officer) during his short valedictory speech were appealing to the students. He reminded the audience about the message of Shri Krishna (1) मामनुस्मर युध्य च.keep the spiritual outlook within and do the worldly works (2) He said that even the police force has to follow the advice of Gita, “परित्राणाय साधूनाम् and विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम्.
b) Satradhikars in the Inaugural as well as concluding functions made the programmes graceful.
All Participants in the competition(Individual as well as Group) performed well. Judging them based on memory, pronunciations etc. were very difficult. I felt that school do not groom their students to come in proper and presentable uniform. Using other colour winter dress (mufflers, scarfs, socks or caps) - resulting loss of Uniformity in Uniform. School teams should be informed about this.
Visit to the Satras invoked in the students (and teachers alike) a good feeling of pride in the cultural heritage. The UN Heritage site (365 year old building and the ornaments, utensils and weapons used by the Ahom Kings preserved there) in the Dakhinpat Satra along with interaction with the Satradhikar there was very informative and pleasing. Visit to Samaguri Satra too was very enjoyable due to its MASK making art. One of the families involved in the making of masks demonstrated the art of mask-making and educated the children all about its making and uses. In fact, the whole of our team enjoyed the demonstration. Our students chanted Bhagawad Gita in the Dakhinpat Satra in the presence of Shri Shri Satradhikar.
Traditional Cultural programme presented by the students of VKV Majuli has invoked a good feeling of pride in the students (and teachers alike) about the massive work done in the Island to protect and propagate the art and culture of the rich tradition.
