In a rare honour for the State, an Arunachali student came up with top honours in a project displayed at the recently concluded ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) Young Scientist programme in Shillong.

Tana Luibi, a class X student from VKV Nirjuli got 1st position in the project conducted, as part of the ISRO Young Scientist programme held at NESAC, Shillong from May 15th to 26th, 2023, according to a press note issued by the school.

Luibi’s classmate Tana Pulin also made the State proud by participating in the renowned ISRO Young Scientist programme.

Both ‘would be’ space scientists were felicitated by the School Principal today.

They were feted during the school assembly by the Principal VKV Nirjuli.

Sharing their enthusiasm, Luibi expressed that the entire experience had been both worthwhile and enlightening, providing invaluable knowledge at their young age that will undoubtedly shape their future endeavours. The programme proved to be much more than a mere introduction to space science technology, offering an array of enriching activities and pleasant surprises.

The students had the opportunity to learn from distinguished and knowledgeable scientists who imparted their wisdom throughout the course.

Speaking on the occasion, Pulin extended heartfelt gratitude to K K Reena, Principal VKV Nirjuli, and Amarnath Sahani, School Coordinator, for their unwavering support and motivation in encouraging their participation in this extraordinary programme.

Eager to inspire others, Luibi expressed a strong desire for students from class IX to grab the chance to apply for the ISRO Young Scientist programme in the forthcoming years.

The programme proved to be far from a conventional and monotonous space science experience, she said, adding, instead, it offered an enthralling voyage filled with immersive learning, new experiences, lasting friendships, enjoyable moments, practical lessons and numerous thrilling adventures.

In concluding remarks, both Luibi and Pulin conveyed sincere appreciation to the entire NESAC team for their remarkable gesture, warm hospitality and steadfast support throughout the programme. Moreover, they extended heartfelt gratitude to ISRO for coming up with such a purposeful initiative, aimed at nurturing the seeds of space science technology among young students.
