Indigenous Faith Day celebration

Indigenous faith Day was celebrated with pomp and show involving the local community in the VKVs of Arunachal Pradesh. Students and staffs taking part in colorful procession, cultural programs by students and community etc. were some of the highlights.

Participation in ‘State Conclave-Dream Change Arunachal’
15 Principals of VKVs participated in the State Conclave-‘Dream Change Arunachal’, a two day program on 8th and 9th December, organized by Govt of Arunachal Pradesh which was graced by dignitaries from different department, academicians, members of Niti Ayog and representatives from many other organizations. The conclave focused on many important themes like, Reforming land laws, Development of land-based economic activity and tourism, Education, tackling unemployment through skills development and Paradigm shift on development process etc. The participants got enriched with inputs from renowned experts from different field. Sri P M Unnikrishnan, Education Officer, VKVAPT, presented a paper on the educational and socio-cultural activities of Vivekananda Kendra in Arunachal Pradesh.

Vivek Inspire Teams camp at Pune
The first batch of Vivek Inspire students have undergone intensive trainings and exposure in the visit and camp at Pune. It was a much awaited event for the students. The team reached Pune on 6th of December and exposed to myriad of activities throughout the stay there. Drum Circle, experience sharing by experts from different fields and alumni, interactions with Sri Viswas Lapalkar, former Secretary of VKVAPT; problem solving session, sessions on culinary and creativity were some of the highlights. There were also parallel program for the mentors. Apart from these, there were visits to ISSER, Pune, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Manashakti Research Center, Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park, NDA campus, Phonix mall, Shaniwar Wada, Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Visit to Regional Coconut Research Centre, Bhatye, Ratnagiri District, Ratnadurga Fort. The team also got acquainted with the innovative practices of the Jnana Prabodhini. The team also had a unique experience of staying with Maharastrian families for two days. The trip to Ratnagiri, the horticulture district of Maharashtra was another varied experience. Overall, the exposure visit has made the students enriched immensely and left an indelible mark.

Exposure in IIT Delhi

The class XI (Science) students of VKV Shergaon availing the Ishaan Vikas Program visited IIT Delhi and enriched themselves with varied carefully chosen exposures by the faculty of the Higher education institution. Ishaan Vikas is an MHRD sponsored program for the selected students from North eastern states to visit premier institutions so that they are motivated to excel in   studies in order to peruse higher education in such state- of –the- art institutions.

Field Visit to Eagle Nest Sanctuary

VKV Shergaon conducted a field study trip to Eagle Nest Wildlife Sanctuary on 20th December 2017 for the students of Class IX and X. It was a Science project for the students to study the flora and fauna in the Evergreen forest. Sri L.N.Thongchun, Deputy Forest Range Officer explained about the various species of birds, animals and trees found in this sanctuary.

Maatru Puja Conducted

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kitpi organized 'Maatriu Puja' programme at Vivekananda hall on 10th December 2017 for the first batch class X students of the Vidyalaya. Matru Puja is organized in VKVs to provide one-time experience of greatness of mother to the teenage children before leaving the school after completing the first stage of their studies.

The programme was graced by Sri Krishna Kumarji, senior member of VKAPT, Sri Rinchin Norbu, Chairman of the School Support Group and Shri Balaji Wagmare, Principal VKV Kitpi. 26 out of 30 students' parents attended the first ever Matru Puja of the Vidyalaya.

Sri RinchinNorbu, Chairman SSG expressed his views on such programmes. He said that, all great persons were influenced by kindness, compassion and humbleness of their mother. Wishing the gathering on the occasion of 28th Noble peace prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama the Chairman quoted the life of His Holiness wherein His Holiness was greatly influenced by his mother. The parents and students also shared their experiences on this occasion. At the very beginning the students washed the feet of their mother and offered Argham (water), Padhyam (water for bathing), Pushpe (flower), Dhupe (incense), Aloke (light), Gandhe (perfume) and Nevidhya (celestial food).

Celebration of National Mathematics Day

VKV Oyan celebrated National mathematics day on 22 December to mark the Birth anniversary of Srinivasha Ramanujan. Importance of the day was explained in the morning assembly. A poster making and model making competition was conducted. Eighty students participated in this competition. A mathematics quiz was also organized on the same day to mark the occasion. VKV Yazali also conducted the same with programs like floral tribute to Srinivasha Ramanujan, special assembly, Importance of the Day and inauguration of a wall magazine.

Workshop on Tourism awareness

The Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh conducted a one hour workshop on 19th December 2017 in VKV Yazali on tourism awareness. A team of four members of above mentioned department were the Resource person and elaborated the purpose behind conducting such workshop in school level. Altogether sixty students of Classes of IX, XI and XII were benefitted by the said workshop.

Laurels garnered by the Band troop of VKV PTC Banderdewa

The band troop of VKV PTC Banderdewa has exhibited the mastery of band display on many occasions recently and captivated the attention of the audiences.The troop participated in the zonal level Band display competition held at Shankardev  Kalakshatra on 19th December which was organized by RMSA, Assam. The competition was held in the presence of Director, RMSA, Assam and Central observer from MHRD, GOI. The troop bagged 3rd position in the competitions among other troops from the North Eastern states.

The troop also displayed at the XV Convocation ceremony of RGU on30th November which was witnessed by honorable Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, the Vice Chancellor of RGU and scores of scholars and students. Later on 4th December, Sri Tamo Mibang, VC of RGU expressed their appreciation by felicitating the Principal, band instructor and the troop.

Participation in Smart Class Workshop
Two teachers of VKV Yingkiong participated in a two day workshop on15th and 16th December organized by the DDSE Yingkiong on effective use of Smart Classrooms using multimedia. 32 teachers from various schools took part in the workshop. Sri Dipok Singha, an IT expert from Guwahati was the main resource person of the workshop. A follow-up workshop was also conducted in VKV Yingkiong on 18th December for other teachers by the two teachers.

Participation in faculty Development Program on English language and Teachinng.
Two teachers, Sri Jagadish Roy and Su Nayanmani Dutta from VKV Banderdewa participated in a faculty development program on English language and teaching at Sandipani Academy, Harmoti, Assam on 16th and 17th December. Dr Manish Sharma, Assistant Professor of English, Mody University was the Resource person of the program.
