The VKVs have completed forty years in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The preceding months saw the fervor of the celebration of the completion of forty years.  The celebration assumed entirely new significance due to the fact that the grand event was organized by the galaxy of alumni of the VKVs.  The celebration which was kick started on 11th September with a marathon was culminated with a three day mega program at Itanagar. The final program at IG Park was graced by the honorable President of India, Sri Ram Nath Kovind; Brigadier (Dr.) B.D. Mishra, Governor, Arunachal Pradesh; Sri Kiren Rijjiju, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Sri Pema Khandu, Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh, Mananeeya Balakrishnanji, All India Vice-President, Vivekananda Kendra  and host of other dignitaries.  All the dignitaries acknowledged and endorsed the contribution of VKVs in ‘Man making-Nation Building’ endeavor and ushering in quality education to this remote hilly state of India. The event proved to be an opportune moment for the former VKVians to revisit their glorious days at VKVs, relishing the nostalgic moments with the former teachers who thronged from various parts of the country, get thrilled by the band display and mega dance program by thousand plus students from VKVs. While commemoration the glorious legacy of VKVs, the celebration also has scripted a new chapter instilling new vigor to traverse the charted path.

Apart from the grand program of 40 years celebration, the preceding months were studded with many activities and celebrations.

Universal Brotherhood Day Celebration

The Universal Brotherhood Day was celebrated in all the VKVs with enthusiasm. This year the celebration assumed an additional dimension with the inauguration of the VKVs 40 years of Service in Arunachal Pradesh. For the inauguration of the same a grand Marathon race with the theme “Run for Brotherhood’ was organized. In addition to the central marathon race at Itanagar, many VKVs and Arunjyoti also organized Marathon race in the morning on the day. Marathon races were organized by VKV Jairampur, Kharsang, Dollungmukh.

Speech on the Importance of the Day, Cultural program by the students , Presentation of the epoch making speech of Swami Vivekananda at Chicago were some of the highlights of the celebration at the schools. Dignitaries, a large number of parents and well-wishers witnessed the events.

Sadhana Divas & Library Week Celebration

All the VKVs celebrated Sadhana Divas, the birth day of Mananeeya Eknathji, the founder of Vivekananda Kendra with usual enthusiasm on 19th November. Apart from other programs, the library week was inaugurated on that day. The library week envisages to instill reading habit in students and introduces the students to the new books with intensified efforts. Book Review, visiting nearby Libraries, guest lectures etc. are some activities conducted during the week.

Celebration of Hindi Divas
VKV Vivek Vihar celebrated Hindi Divas with pomp and show. Sri Tania Hakom, Headmaster, Rajaokio Middle school, Police Colony inaugurated the program by offering flowers at the feet of Bharat Mata. 10 selected students read their poems. Other VKVs also organized activities to celebrate the occasion.

Sadgamaya Shibir

The Sadgamaya shibir, an outreach program for the students of the neighboring schools was conducted with usual gusto. Many neighboring schools responded to this popular shibir and sent large number of students to attend the same. The details of participation has been given below:

Prerana Shibir
This shibir is conducted for the day scholar students of Class VII to provide them a glimpse of an ideal daily routine and motivation. VKV Raga conducted the shibir from 27th to 29th September in which 24 students were present. In addition to the sessions taken by the teachers, there were also sessions by Dr Hage Hano, MO, PHC Raga. Sri Bini Tegi, Principal, Green Hill School and Er Milli Aghe were the Chief Guest for the Inauguration and the Concluding function of the shibir.

Speech and Drama on Sister Nivedita

On the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of sister Nivedita, all the schools have conducted activities to commemorate the great lady who showed immense love to India and dedicated her life for the same. VKV Nivedita Vihar students presented speech and drama on Sister Nivedita in some of the neighboring schools as a part of the Sister Nivedita 150th Birth Anniversary celebration. After the presentation, an essay writing competition was also conducted on 28th October.

A total of 53 young scientists from 19 districts of the state displayed their projects and exhibitions with presentations. The top 10 have been selected for the National Science Congress, scheduled to be held at Ahmadabad from November 27 to 31.

Excellent Performance at State Merit Scholarship
It is a great pleasure that Kr. Bishal Mandal, VKV Ziro topped in the state Merit scholarship exam for the year 2017. Apart from this, the students of VKVs performed superbly in the State Merit Scholarship exam conducted for Class IX students. 17 students out of 36 selected in the state are from VKVs. Governors Quiz

Kr. Pankaj Tiwari (CL-X) and Kr. Ngawang Gyaltsen (CL-IX) from VKV Banderdewa represented Papum Pare District in the state level Governor’s Quiz Competition and stood first in the state Level competition conducted on 28th October. The team of VKV Itanagar bagged the third position. VKV Roing, Kuporijo and Jairampur also participated in the state level after winning the district level competition.

State Level Science Exhibition
The students of VKVs exhibited outstanding performance in the state Level Science Exhibition organized by Directorate of Secondary Education held on 21 November at Itanagar.. VKV Kuporijo student Kr Tobom Nilling stood in the second position followed by Mahish Nath of VKV Nirjuli in the state. Kr Marpong Kodak, student of Class IX selected for National level in Science Exhibition. The exhibition was based on, “Innovations for Sustainable Development”, which saw the participation of budding scientists from 26 different schools of the state.

NHPC Painting Competition

Participation @ Science Connect Quiz Competition –Zonal Level

Kr Nguli Lombi, VKV Itanagar, Kr Arnab Bhattacharjee of VKV Vivek Vihar and Km Purva Pusti of VKV Tawang represented Arunachal Pradesh in the zonal level Science Connect Quiz Competition organized by Vigyan Prasar held from 15 to 16 November at ASTEC Guwahati. All the eight North Eastern States participated in the quiz.

Vivek Inspire Workshop for Batch I
A workshop for the Vivek Inspire batch I was conducted from 4th to 9th October in VKV Nirjuli and Roing. Students were given intensive coaching to nurture the giftedness.

Participation@ National Green Tribunal Conference

5 students of VKV Itanagar along with their escort teacher attended 2 days conference of NGT at Guwahati on 9th and 10th Sept’2017.The Chief Minister and the Forest Minister of Assam inaugurated the programme. The Supreme Court Judge Sri Adarsh Kumar Goel and other judges of Kolkata High Court, Sikkim High Court and many other judicial dignitaries of difference high court of India graced the conference and delivered lectures on topics like- Reuse of tree, waste water and resource recovery. Integrated and sustainable solid and liquid resource management, segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, Bio conversion of wastes to manure through vermin composing to make wastes into wealth etc.Kr. Ayush Deb of Class VIII received 1st prize for poster making, Km. Rosemoyee Bhuyan Class IX received 2nd rank in painting, Km. Preety Hazarika Cl-VIII received 4th rank in Essay competition and Km. Mache Beyong, Class XI (Sc.) also received 4th and 5th rank respectively in Essay competition and painting competition. Smt. Anita Subramanian accompanied the students as an escort. The Arunachal pollution control board sponsored the programme for the students.

Career Guidance Program
VKV, Neepco Yazali conducted a career guidance programme for the students of Class X,XI,XII on 14 October. Shri Gajendra Dev Singh, Manager (SBI, Yazali) was the main Resource person for the program.

NSS Activities

Sri L D Singh, NSS Program officer of VKV Roing participated in a training program on ‘Youth and Peace Building’ organized by RGNIYD training officers at NIRD & PR-NERC-Guwahati from 19th to 23rd September. There were altogether 25 Program officers from all the North Eastern states. VKV Itanagar organized an orientation program on 26 October for Classes IX to XII. Brahmakumar Raju from BrahmaKumari Viswa Vidaylaya, Headquarter Rajasthan was the main Resource person of the program.

State Level Bhagawad Gita Chanting Competition

The state level Inter VKV Bhagawad Gita Chanting Competition was conducted at VKVAPT Dibrugarh on 30th November. The 17th chapter of Bhagawad Gita was selected for competition this year. The competition held in school and cluster level culminated at the state level competition. All the cluster level winners participated in the final competition. Activities of Atal Tinkering Lab

The Atal Tinkering Labs in VKV Jairampur and Kuporijo have been made operational and selected students have been undergoing intensive training. Talent Shows at VKVs

A large gathering of parents, well-wishers and other dignitaries were enthralled by the performances of 450 students in 27 items in the ‘Mega Talent Show’ at VKV Nirjuli organized on 25th November. Sri Tapi Gao, Director, Elementary Education, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. VKV Jirdin also organized a talent show for the primary students with manifold programs involving all the students of primary section.

School Level Science Exhibition

Many schools conducted School level Science exhibitions which were witnessed by large number of parents and well-wishers. There were altogether 166 exhibits at VKV Roing, 106 models at VKV Itanagar, 87 models at VKV Banderdewa.

Primary Teachers Workshop at VKV Itanagar

A five days’ workshop for the teachers of primary sections of VKV Itanagar and Vivek Vihar was conducted at VKV Itanagar from 31st October to 4th November 2017. Sri Arvind Gore, an educationist from Pune was the Resource person of the same. During the workshop, Sri Goreji demonstrated many new teaching techniques and shared his own experience. He urged the teachers to consider every student potentially gifted and teach them with concern so that their natural talent get manifested. All the teachers participated actively in all the activities.

Class X Class Teachers Workshop
In order to review the status of preparation of different VKVs in respect to the new scheme of evaluation introduced by CBSE, two class teachers Workshops were held on 7th and 11th November at VKV Itanagar and VKV Roing respectively. Class teachers from 15 VKVs participated in the Workshops. The Workshop at VKV Itanagar was graced by Sri Arvind Gore, an experienced teacher trainer from Pune. The academic performances of the Class X students were presented by the Class teachers. Detail strategies were planned to train the students to ensure good scoring. A chapter wise revision plan culminated with CBSE Final exam mock Test has been finalized with the class teacher. The cluster- in- charges of other VKVs are going to appraise the Class teachers of respective VKVs about the same.

The ensuing months are going to see more intensive academic activities for the deepening of understanding of the concepts. At the same time, let us assimilate the positive energy created during the forty years of celebration and go ahead with undaunted faith and spirit.
