International Yoga Day
VKV Dollungmukh celebrated the International Day of Yoga for the first time, which is celebrated for the second time over the globe. The first time celebration in the Vidyalaya became more significant as, Subansiri Lower H.E. Project, NHPC, Gerukamukh had chosen our Vidyalaya to be one of the centres of Yoga for the grand celebration.
In order to mobilise the celebration, a well-designed notice was circulated among the residents of the village Kalaptukar. Also the team members of the Vidyalaya made contacts with the neighbours for a better result of the programme. As Yoga was a part of the daily routine (Only for the Hostellers), the celebration paved way for the day scholars also to avail this opportunity. As it was requested by NHPC to commence the programme from 15.06.2016, we purchased two more days and started the celebration from 18.06.2016, by involving the nearby parents and well-wishers. Also all the teachers participated in the yoga session with full enthusiasm. A few parents started attending the session since 18.06.2016. The day scholar students were trained during the last period of the school hours from 18.06.2016 to 20.06.2016.
On 21.06.2016, all the day scholar students were made to reach the school by 7.00am and the programme of International Day of Yoga was celebrated in our Vidyalaya. A few parents and Sri. Tape Ratan one of the PPA authorities also attended the programme. The gathering was given a warm welcome by Sri. R. Murugan, the Principal of the Vidyalaya and the speech on the significance of the day was delivered by Sri. Keshab Upadhyaya, Teacher of the Vidyalaya. Sri. Jang Bahadur Sonar was the instructor of the entire session. The session comprised of loosening exercises, a few Asanas, Pranayama for a short while, followed by Suryanamaskar and Savasan. The programme concluded with Shanti Mantra followed by Kendra Prayer. It was a wonderful programme. All the participants enjoyed the programme very well. Finally, Smt. Tape Ratan shared her impression regarding the same. The parents had sought our approval for them to attend the regular yoga session in our Vidyalaya. Altogether it was registered that the total attendance of the programme was 68, including 59 students of our Vidyalaya (24 Hostellers & 35 Day Scholars).
