Physical development, being one among the five fold developments of the pattern of education imparted by the VKVs in the state, VKV Dollungmukh as a part of the same, had its Annual Sports and Cultural Meet for the current academic session from 22.12.2016 – 24.12.2016 to bring out the physical potentialities hidden in the students.

The three days long programme which is an annual event was formally inaugurated by Sri. Amarnath Singh, the Officer Commanding of Arunachal Pradesh Police, Ziro in the presence of Sri. Tem Perme, the Deputy Manager of Electrical and Mechanical Division of Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project of NHPC at Gerukamukh, parents and all the inmates of the Vidyalaya. The Chief Guest hoisted the Sports Flag of the Vidyalaya and lit the Torch and handed over it to Kr. Rottom Nanak of Class IV who was the champion of the academic session 2015 – 16. He addressed the gathering and highlighted about the significance of the sports events in an individual’s life and also mentioned about the reservation for the sportsmen in the recruitment to the government services in the state. He registered his remarks on the March Past presented by the Class IV hostellers that it was the best performance which he had ever witnessed in his lifetime. He advised the students to pay attention in sports activities too to bring out their talents and blessed them and finally declared the meet open. The day scholar students of the Vidyalaya presented a colourful Fancy Dress Competition on the theme “Go As You Like” which very well reflected the input of the teachers, efforts of the parents and the students taken to make the event a successful one.  All the participants were judged by the Chief Guest Sri. Amarnath Singh, Sri. Tem Perme and Sri. R. Murugan, the Principal of the Vidyalaya.

All the sports events were separately conducted for the boys and girls of all the classes. The entire strength of the Vidyalaya took part very actively in the sports activities with the true spirit of sportsmanship. It was observed that there’s a good enthusiasm and competitive spirit among the students. The three days programme made the students to cherish a memorable thought, which would remain in them forever. The entire nuclear team of the Vidyalaya along with the hostellers attended the retreat of the sports flag during the sunset of the third day on 24.12.2016.

Library Week Observations for the session 2016 – 17, in VKV Dollungmukh comprised of a galaxy of activities and competitions from 19.11.2016 – 26.11.2016. The entire family of the Vidyalaya played an active role in the same with true spirit and enthusiasm to make the observations a grand successful one in all the spheres. The glimpses of the weeklong programme is mentioned hereunder.

The observations commenced with the formal inauguration of the “Creativity Exhibition” on 19.11.2016, by Sri. M. A. Padmanabhachar, the Chief of Electrical and Mechanical Division of Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project of NHPC at Gerukamukh. He was given a brief description regarding the Library Week Observations in VKVs by Sri. R. Murugan, the Principal of the Vidyalaya, along with the significance of the day speech on “Sadhana Diwas”- the Birth Anniversary of Mananeeya Eknathji Ranade, the spirit behind Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra and VKVs in Arunachal Pradesh. He was very well impressed by the creativity of the students exposed in the form of charts and displays.

The “Creativity Exhibition” remained open throughout the week for the students, parents, well wishers and NHPC officials to visit the same. There was a good number of parents, well wishers and NHPC officials who visited the exhibition. All of them were highly impressed by the display of the talents of the students. Mananeeya Pravin Dabholkarji, one of the Joint General Secretaries of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra cum the Secretary of VKVs in North East visited the same along with Sri. Anand Mohan Mishra, the Principal of VKV Ziro cum the Cluster In Charge of Subansiri Cluster, during their visit to the Vidyalaya on 23.11.2016. Mananeeya Pravinji appreciated the artistic skill of the students on the drawings of Mananeeya Eknathji and Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

Book Collection Drive, being a part of the observations brought a good result in increasing the number of books in the school library, by the generous contribution of the parents and the family members of the Vidyalaya.

The weeklong programme was officially culminated on 26.11.2016, though the culmination programme was organised on 28.11.2016. Sri. Amresh Kumar, the General Manager of Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project of NHPC at Gerukamukh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He visited the Creativity Exhibition and display of the books donated by the family members and students of the Vidyalaya. He expressed his extreme happiness and appreciated the skill of the students. While addressing the audience, he mentioned that “Knowledge is the strength of an individual which can be obtained only through reading books”. He also insisted the students to read books daily and make it as a part of their daily routine. All the winners of the literary competitions conducted during the observations were awarded by the Chief Guest.

As per the guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Government of India, Vigilance Awareness Week was observed by Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project of NHPC at Gerukamukh from 31.10.2016 – 05.11.2016, which is a nationwide programme in all the government corporate offices during this period of the annual calendar. In connection with the observation, the project conducted a variety of competitions for the students of the schools within its radius at the inter school level. Accordingly the students of our Vidyalaya also participated in the Elocution and Poster Making competitions on the topics “Moral Education during Childhood” and “Evils of Corruption” respectively under the specific age group.

The highlights of the observation from 31.10.2016 – 05.11.2016

  1. Sri.R.Murugan, the Principal of the Vidyalaya was invited to be one of the judges for the Poem Recitation Competition conducted for the employees of the project and their spouses and Debate Competition for the employees on 02.11.2016 and 03.11.2016 respectively. He was also felicitated during the valedictory function of the observation on 05.11.2016 among the hub of the officials of NHPC.
  2. The valedictory function commenced with National Anthem sung by the Class IV students of our Vidyalaya. The students presented two skits on the themes “Say No to Bribe” and “Discipline” in Hindi and English respectively. They also presented a patriotic group song (Jago Bandhu....) and impressed the gathering.
  3. All the winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs.1000, Rs.500 and Rs.300 by Sri. Rakesh, the Executive Director of the project, for the First, Second and Third Positions respectively.

VKV Dollungmukh conducted a one day Sadgamaya Shibir 04.10.2016 by drawing the participants from the Government Middle School (Sipu School), Kalaptukar, who were of Class VI and VII.

The entire Shibir was conducted by utilising the inmates of the Vidyalaya as resource persons for the various activities of the Shibir. All the resource persons made a remarkable task in their respective topics and fields and instilled the right things in the minds of the participants. The participants were engaged with a variety of activities like lectures on specific topics mentioned above, screening of video clippings of the serial on Swami Vivekananda and his world historical speech at the World Parliament of Religions held at Chicago in USA, video clippings on the construction of Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

In addition to these as a part of exposing their potentialities, memory test, group discussion, and variety of indoor games were the part of the routine of the day. They were also taught patriotic songs and bhajan on Donyi Polo. It was a good beginning as the Vidyalaya had hosted the Shibir for the first time and it is observed to be a successful one.

The 147th Birth Anniversay of the Father of the Nation was celebrated over the national borders on 02.10.2016 with the spirit of patriotism. In connection with the same, Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project of NHPC at Gerukamukh organised a small programme in our Vidyalaya and Sri. Rakesh, the Executive Director of the Project unveiled the bust of Gandhi in the academic block, which is in the final stage of construction.

As a response to the request offered by the project of NHPC, the students of our Vidyalaya exhibited a sequence of colourful cultural programmes, which highly impressed the entire gathering of the hub of officials of NHPC, parents, well wishers and public from the locality of Kalaptukar. The Executive Director and his core team were received by the traditional system by the team of the Vidyalaya, parents and public.  The Executive Director unveiled the bust of Gandhi in the background of a loud applause of the entire gathering. Following that all the officials of NHPC, the nuclear family of the Vidyalaya and other prominent personalities garlanded the bust. It was followed by a plantation drive by all the officials of NHPC and other personalities including Sri. R. Murugan, the Principal of the Vidyalaya. Later the gathering assembled at the hall which is proposed for library in the new academic block. The proceeding commenced with invocation by the students of our Vidyalaya. Sri. R. Murugan, the Principal of the welcomed the gathering in a befitting way. The cultural programme comprised of Gita chanting in group (12 couplets of the 16th chapter), speech on Gandhi, Bhajan (Raghupathi Raghav Rajaram....) of Gandhi and traditional dance separately by boys and girls. Sri. Rakesh, the Executive Director, addressed the gathering and recalled the principles and ideologies of Gandhi and appealed the gathering to adopt the same in their life. Also he registered his remarks on the performance of the students as; it’s doubtless that they would uphold the principles of Gandhi, as they are groomed in a systematic way in all the spheres by their teachers and assured that the project would take up the necessary infrastructural works which are in pending in the Vidyalaya at the earliest. Sri. Radhe Krishna Prasad, Teacher of the Vidyalaya delivered the vote of thanks which was followed by Shanti Mantra. The total attendance of the proceeding was 115 including the officials of NHPC, staff and students of the Vidyalaya, parents, well wishers and public from the locality of Kalaptukar.

Executive Director of Subansiri Lower Project, Rakesh unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi at Vivekananda Kendra Vidhyalaya (VKV), Dollungmukh on Sunday and paid floral tribute to the legendary freedom fighter.

On the occasion, a cultural programme was presented by the students of the VKV.

Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh remembered the immense sacrifices made by ‘Bapu’ and his great contribution to country’s Independence. He appealed to all the students and the staff to follow the teachings of Gandhiji and follow his principles of non-violence and simplicity.

During the function, apart from locals and staff of NHPC, Dy. Commandant of CISF, Principal and staff of VKV Dollungmukh, In-charge of Dollungmukh Police Station also paid floral tributes to the Father of the Nation.

A plantation drive was also organized at the school on the occasion.

VKV Dollungmukh celebrated the International Day of Yoga for the first time, which is celebrated for the second time over the globe. The first time celebration in the Vidyalaya became more significant as, Subansiri Lower H.E. Project, NHPC, Gerukamukh had chosen our Vidyalaya to be one of the centres of Yoga for the grand celebration.

In order to mobilise the celebration, a well-designed notice was circulated among the residents of the village Kalaptukar. Also the team members of the Vidyalaya made contacts with the neighbours for a better result of the programme. As Yoga was a part of the daily routine (Only for the Hostellers), the celebration paved way for the day scholars also to avail this opportunity. As it was requested by NHPC to commence the programme from 15.06.2016, we purchased two more days and started the celebration from 18.06.2016, by involving the nearby parents and well-wishers. Also all the teachers participated in the yoga session with full enthusiasm. A few parents started attending the session since 18.06.2016. The day scholar students were trained during the last period of the school hours from 18.06.2016 to 20.06.2016.

On 21.06.2016, all the day scholar students were made to reach the school by 7.00am and the programme of International Day of Yoga was celebrated in our Vidyalaya. A few parents and Sri. Tape Ratan one of the PPA authorities also attended the programme. The gathering was given a warm welcome by Sri. R. Murugan, the Principal of the Vidyalaya and the speech on the significance of the day was delivered by Sri. Keshab Upadhyaya, Teacher of the Vidyalaya. Sri. Jang Bahadur Sonar was the instructor of the entire session. The session comprised of loosening exercises, a few Asanas, Pranayama for a short while, followed by Suryanamaskar and  Savasan.  The programme concluded with Shanti Mantra followed by Kendra Prayer. It was a wonderful programme. All the participants enjoyed the programme very well. Finally, Smt. Tape Ratan shared her impression regarding the same. The parents had sought our approval for them to attend the regular yoga session in our Vidyalaya. Altogether it was registered that the total attendance of the programme was 68, including 59 students of our Vidyalaya (24 Hostellers & 35 Day Scholars).
