Universal Brotherhood Day celebration in VKV Koloriang

Universal Brotherhood Day, a major event celebrated all over Vivekananda Kendra and its manifold branches, was observed gracefully at VKV Koloriang. The day saw a significant gathering of parents, students, teachers and well-wishers. As per VKV tradition, the activities of the day were planned and executed with ease by the teaching, non-teaching staff and student-volunteers.

The programme of the day are as follows:
Chief Guest and Principal were received with a beautiful display by band members and enthusiastic students. Traditional dresses, welcome aarti made this cordial welcome eventful.
In the presence of students, parents and teachers, Chief Guest and Principal lighted the lamp. The programme commenced with 3 OMkara followed by Saha Na Bhavatu.
Sri. Harinath Upadhyay, Principal, welcomed the crowd present. He intimated the appreciation of all being present for the auspicious occasion of Universal Brotherhood Day.
Next, Principal Upadhyay felicitated Chief Guest Sri. Koyu with a couple of items, namely a Swamiji memorabilia and a traditional piece of cloth.
Cultural programmed started via a commendable group song by students of Class VII & VIII.
Sri. Anish Tiwari sir narrated few excerpts from Swami Vivekananda’s life. He enlightened parents and students alike, on the significance of Universal Brotherhood Day, Swamiji’s ideals and the works being done by Vivekananda Kendra all over the country.
As the day commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s global recognition following the memorable speech at Chicago on the World Parliament of Religions, the speech itself was re-enacted by Kr. Bengia Tamin, student of Class. VIII.
The cultural backbone of the events were students themselves, who worked in pairs, groups and individually to entertain, enact and represent their learning on various skills. Highlighting every programme, these are as follows:
I. Collaborative classical dance performance by students of Class V & VI (girls).
II. Drama on Swami Vivekananda’s life by students of Class VII & VIII (boys).
III. Traditional dances by Class I-V (girls)
IV. Tradition dance by Class VII & VIII (boys).
Swami Vivekanda’s quotations have the strength to inspire all. Therefore, selected students shared Swamiji’s thoughts on every interval.
Universal Brotherhood Day also highlights the inauguration of VKV house magazine, Arohi. On this glorious occasion, Principal Upadhyay and Chief Guest Sri. Koyu ushered in the latest Arohi magazine on the theme “I am India.”
As the cultural programmes conclude, Chief Guest Sri. Koyu addressed the gathering. He stressed on the role of parents, proper way of living and importance of academics in student life.
Su. Duyu Yabo played the role of anchor for the events. Hence, she also gave vote of thanks and concluded the event with Shanti Mantra
