VKV Nirjuli conducted Matri Puja on 29th January, 2016 for the mothers of the students of class X on the eve of the ensuing CBSE All India Secondary School Examinations, 2016. The programme was attended by 60 mothers and 12 fathers. The Puja was performed by Sri Krishna Kumarji, Member, VKVs AP Trust.

Matri Puja is one of the unique rituals performed in Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas as a part of value-oriented education that aims at consolidating and instilling the opulent customs of our motherland in our children. The Puja is mainly conducted to worship the mothers by their own children in a formal occasion to give that divine feeling amidst the utterance of the Vedic mantras in which mothers bless their children to do well in All India Secondary School Examinations and in any venture they undertake in the days to come. The aroma and the ambience create a blissful and serene atmosphere and it is believed that the divine touch of the mother’s palm on the head   changes the brain chemistry of the children that endorses them to take the resolution to be true and honest to the words.

1. Sri Panchanan Tripathy ,Principal of the school welcomed the mothers and other dignitaries who were the most important parts of this auspicious programme and encompassed the following points:

  1. Beside the formal education imparted in their schooling period, this particular puja will give a new dimension in their thinking.
  2. This experience would also help them in emotional development and expand the firmament of thinking process
  3. This auspicious puja shall leave an indelible impression in the minds of the students to weigh the values.

  2. It is conducted to illuminate the dignity, status and significance of mothers in one’s life.
  3. It is also conducted to illustrate our reverence and gratitude to the mothers, as they undergo the excruciating pains in bringing up the children.
  4. Mothers are the embodiments of sacrifice and love, who bear hardships to  give comforts to their children . So, such a great mother definitely needs to be worshipped.
  5. The programme is also significant as it attempts to edify the children the age- old values and traditions that every generation of the civilization has witnessed.
