Library week was celebrated on the occasion of Sadhana Divas in VKV Nirjuli.

Duration: 19 November to 26 November 2014

Inauguration: Dr Joram Begiji, Former Director of Technical and Higher Education and Prant Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra, Arunachal Pradesh.

While speaking on the occasion Dr. Begi dwelt in length about the contribution of Eknathji Ranade made in the national arena and particularly for Aruanchal Pradesh.

He also inaugurated 12 wall magazines.

Other Dignitaries:Other Dr. Arkotong Longkumer, Lecturer in Religious Studies, University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom was also present on the occasion

Main Activities: Book collection Drive, Book Review competitions for Students, Lecture session by the noted Authors for parents.

Book Donation Drive Details:

1487 no of books are donated to the school library by students and teachers.

Speaker: Sri Rinchen Dorjee, Former Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commissioner

Inputs: Sri Rinchen Dorjeeji profoundly advocated the glory of reading habits and excerpted F. Bacon’s saying: ‘Reading makes a full man, conference a ready man and writing an exact man’. It was a highly motivational speech on the use of library and reading habits.

Inputs: ‘The value of reading, which is a free entertainment readily available to us, is fading very fast among the youngsters, he said.’ He soothingly conveyed the message of reading our great Upanishad and other scriptures.

Principal, VKV Nirjuli, Sri Panchanan Tripathy spoke on the values of reading and how reading books can stimulate cognitive domains, reduce stress, enhance knowledge and expand vocabulary. He said that reading strengthens memory; broadens strong analytical and thinking skills.

Inputs: Urged the parents to visit libraries and become members.

Reading books pertaining to Indigenous culture of Arunachal Pradesh.  Create environment for study at home and monitor the progress of their wards. He also underscores the need of speaking in indigenouslanguages at home.
