NAHARLAGUN, Sept 15: Bharat Jago Daud, as a reminiscence to Swami Vivekananda Sardha Shati Samaroh, was organized in the city of Naharlagun to pay tribute to the great spiritual guru  Swami Vivekananda.

The whole nation is celebrating the 150th Birth Anniversary of her great son Swami Vivekananda, of which this mini marathon a unique component; a leap forward to the rousing call to the mass of youth for the service and integrity of our nation. Around 500 fervent participants gathered at Chief Councilor’s building, Naharlagun, the starting point of the race, to run for the sake of our nation. Special Guest Sri Leki Phuntsoji, former Director, IPR, Arunachal Pradesh flagged off thedaud as an initiation of the same  in the benign presence of Convener, SVSSS Dr Lobsang Jompa, Sri Panchanan Tripathy, Principal, VKV Nirjuli, teachers, well-wishers, VKVians and many spectators. He, in his address to the runners at the starting point, reiterated the past glories of our great nation and narrated how it could reach to its greatest height of spirituality under the prime leadership of Swami Vivekananda, an incredible spiritual reformist mother India has ever produced.

All the participants were received cordially at the culminating point casting the slogans of Swamiji and Bharatmata; they were served with some energy drink and then processed to the auditorium of Chief Councilor for the concluding stage programme of the event. Su. Higio Aruni, the Chief Councilor of capital complex was the Chief Guest and Prof. Jamuna Bini, RGU was the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest in her address to the gathering expressed her strong concern how Indian philosophy and culture had a spiritual message which could not only liberate Indians but could lift the entire human race to a new spiritual height; how it could bask in the warmth of human brotherhood with a spirit of coexistence.

Prof Jamuna Bini, the Guest of Honour felt greatly impressed seeing the tempo and keenness of the participants to serve the nation; how well they all responded to awaken the somnolent generation. She venerated how Swami Vivekananda’s gospel marked the stirring   of man in his fullest. She laid down three prerequisites propounded by Swamiji to make every man great, every nation great: (1) Conviction of power of goodness, (2) Absence of jealousy and suspicion and (3) Helping all who are trying to be and do good.

Dr Sunil Mohanty, a social activist, highlighted how Swami Vivekananda was instrumental in redeeming our faith in our country to produce some good souls in every era who could give the world a new vision, new idea and a new spiritual message or a new understanding.
