Today 73rd Independence Day of India was celebrated with pump and Grandeur at VKV, Yingkiong, Upper Siang District on 15th August (Thursday) 2019. At the same time Raksha Bandhan was also celebrated in the school. The day was started with a procession by the students and teachers early in the morning and it was followed by the hoisting of National Flag by Shri Madan Kr. Sarkar, the principal of the institution at 7am sharp at school premises in presence of all the teachers and around 400 students. It was followed by singing the national anthem “Jana Gana Mana…” tuned by the music of the girls band troupe of the school. Then the principal delivered his valuable speech on the importance of both the days ( 73rd Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan) and asked all the students to have patriotic feeling and show respect towards our country. Km. Nui Nopi, a student of class IX anchored the whole programme. A patriotic song was presented by three class girls students. Then sweets are distributed among the children and at the same time all the girls tied their brothers Rakhi.

On the occasion of Independence Day, there was a procession (Prabhat Pheri) conducted by the students of all four houses namely Aryabhatta, Charaka, Chanakya and Panini with colourful placards containing various patriotic slogans and tri colour national flags of India. Students of class III to X took part in that. The procession started at 5.30am from the school ground and finished at 6.30am after covering 2km distance around the Yingkiong township. All the house leaders along with six teachers house in-charges led the procession actively. There were attractive prizes for the best three houses on the basis of four criterias i.e., discipline (10 points), Slogans and patriotic songs (10 points), Uses of placards and flags ( 10 points) and active involvement (20 points ). There was a group of four judges to select the first, second and third houses- Sri Arun Kr. Panda, Sri Asim Chanda, Sri Navojyoti Deori and Sri Bikesh Kr. Sahu. The first prize went to Charaka house scoring total 124 points. The second prize went to Chanakaya house scoring total 116 points and the third prize went to Aryabhatta and Panini house both scoring total 110 points separately. All the students took active participation with a great enthusiasm.

On the same day students of VKV Yingkiong also participated in the competition of various events conducted by the Govt. administration of Upper Siang District at the General Ground near Community Hall. Students from different 13 schools took part in the various events of the programme. 26 boys from different classes took part in the event of march past under the platoon commander Kr. Kankeng Kombo, a student of class VIII. The band troupe of 36 girls students from class VI to IX under the commandership of Km. Deki Osik, a student of class IX showed a wonderful band display and won the first place. A dance on patriotic song was also performed by 17 girls students from various classes. In the field of Yoga and Pyramid, 55 little participants of different primary classes showed a beautiful Yogic exhibition and won the first place. At the same time some girls students of class VIII tied Rakhi to Sri Aalo Libang, the local MLA , the DC and SP of Upper Siang district and other dignitaries presented in the programme
