
On 24th January 2024, VKV Oyan organized Matri Puja, which began at 11:00 AM with the arrival of parents. The program started with the traditional washing of mothers' feet by their sons and daughters. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp accompanied by the Mangalacharan, led by the Chief Guest, Smt. Mammang Taggu, a senior member of Sille Ganging and a social activist.
The students of Class X presented a heartfelt song dedicated to mothers, setting the tone for the event. The Principal of VKV Oyan, Sri Ashok Singh, delivered the welcome address and felicitated the Chief Guest. He also highlighted the significance of the day by emphasizing the importance and sacrifices of mothers in our lives. Through inspiring stories like the race of Ganesha and Kartikeya, the tale of Shravan Kumar, and a mother’s determination for her child’s education, he illustrated the greatness of motherhood.
Sri V.P. Mishra, a senior Hindi teacher, also addressed the gathering, sharing real-life stories of mothers' sacrifices and their pivotal role in shaping students' lives.
The Matri Puja ceremony was conducted by Sri Bikram Chetry, after which the Chief Guest, Smt. Mammang Taggu, addressed the audience. She appreciated the initiative, calling it a wonderful program that instills values alongside modern education. She encouraged schools to organize such events to help children understand the greatness of mothers and the essence of motherhood.

• Km. Gampi Mother Smt. Bamen Doye Kadu: She expressed her gratitude to VKVs for organizing such unique programs. She praised VKVs for focusing on the holistic development of children, unlike other schools that emphasize only academics. She acknowledged how the program made her realize that children observe every action of their parents and encouraged students to dream big and work hard.
• Kr. Jomba Bagra Mother Smt. Jummik Bagra : She shared her emotional experience, mentioning that while she had always washed her son’s feet when he was young, it was the first time her son washed hers. She described the moment as unforgettable and urged students to set goals and study hard.
Feedback from Students:
• Km. Gampi Kadu: She apologized publicly for her past misbehavior towards her mother and expressed gratitude after realizing her mother’s sacrifices.
• Kr. Karma Mindu Sona: He admitted to arguing with his mother in the past and pledged to be more responsible and work hard to fulfill her dreams.
• Km. Baby Doley: She shared how her parents work tirelessly to meet daily needs and promised to put in more effort to make them proud.
The program concluded at 1:00 PM with a vote of thanks by Sri Ananjan Bose, followed by the Shanti Mantra. A total of 22 mothers participated in the event, making it a memorable and meaningful occasion for all.
