VKV Kharsang, had the great opportunity of visiting IIT Kharagpur,India’s first and the oldest IIT, under ISHAN VIKAS Programme -2015.
As per the guideline 10 students from class –IX were selected based on academic performance. Out of which two were girls and eight were boys. After having proper consent and permission from their parents and guardian, we started the trip towards IIT Kharagpur on 6th Dec. 2015 around 2: PM from the school campus.
On 7th Dec. 2015, we boarded our flight from Guwahati to Kolkata Airport and then had a bus journey of about four and half hour to reach IIT Kharagpur.
On 8th Dec.2015, there was a small inaugural programme in the Museum of Hijli Building,IIT kharagpur. In the programme Dr. Dhurbajyoti Sen, Coordinator, Ishan Vikas Programme, offered the welcome address to all the four school of North East.(Manipur-1, Arunachal Pradesh-3) A brief prefatory schedule of the programme was highlighted by Dr. Arnab Hazre, host coordinator. Dr Hazre also introduced the resource persons to the participants.
Then stared the spellbound classes by the skilled lecturers and research scholars covering the various topic related to NCERT book of IX standard. Some of the important topic dealt by the lecturers’ are-
- Basic concept of Mathematics
- Chemistry with fun
- Popular talks of physics- Newton’s law
- Basis electronic and electrical
- Mechanical engineering
- Probability statics and number system.
Along with the theory classes, the students also had the privilege of sharing the well-equipped lab. of various departments . The students could perform practical on some of the important topic such as-
- Moulding and casting
- Wielding
- Cutting and Designing
- Moulding of glassware
- Capillary movements etc.
Besides, the above classes, the students could observe high tech lab. of various deptt, classrooms, the historic science museum and prison of freedom fighters. Aerodynamic, seismological Observatory, Digha Sea beach, Marine aquarium, planetarium, etc., were other attraction of the students.
In the Valedictory function the students of VKV Kuporijo expressed their sincere gratitude to IIT Kharagpur by performing a traditional group dance. VKV Kharsang, VKV Sher presented one each group song. As feedback many students promised that they will come back to IIT Khargapur, not as a guest or visitors but as an IITian. The students of VKV Kharsang acknowledged their sincere gratitude to VKVAPT, Principal, VKV Kharsang and the ministry of HRD, Govt. of India for initiating ISHAN VIKAS Programme for them. Dr. Dhurbajyoti Sen, expressed his happiness with the performance and language knowledge of the students and wished them all the best for their future.
On 18th Dec. 2015 we started our way back from IIT Kharagpur, through the same route and reached VKV kharsang on 20th Dec.2015 in the morning.
As a whole our students participated very well in the programme. They were obedient, cooperative, punctual and sincere. They had a wonderful experience of flight and playing with the Sea waves. The trip to IIT kharagpur was a wonderful learning experience
