The Children's Science Congress (CSC), initiated in 1993, is a flagship programme of NCSTC, DST, Govt of India and has since crossed the silver jubilee year. It is an inclusive programme open to children of the age group of 10-17 years covering all backgrounds either school going or out of school system, belonging to geographic, language and cultural regimes open to all children including children with disabilities. Children’s Science Congress (CSC) prompts children to ponder upon some significant societal problem, think over its causes and subsequently try and solve the same using the scientific process. This involve close and keen observation, raising pertinent questions, building models, predicting solutions on basis of models, trying out various possible alternatives and arriving at an optimum solution using experimentation, field work, research and innovation.
To inculcate a spirit of scientific temper and analytical thinking in the minds of young students, District level NCSC -2019 on the focal theme ‘’ SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION FOR A CLEAN, GREEN & HEALTHY NATION’’ was held at GHSS Ziro, Lower Subansiri on 22 October 2019 in collaboration with Deputy Director of School Education, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh. Principal Govt. Hr. School, Ziro Sri Hage Taker was present as Chief Guest in the program. The chief guest ,in his welcome address, expressed happiness about organizing the prestigious District Level Event in Lower subansiri District.. He explained about various advancements taking place in Science and informed that Scientists are doing research on achieving 100% accuracy. Science can be very exciting when it is practiced and applied for the betterment of life on earth, he said and students should nurture this habit to develop research skills for becoming Scientists. He congratulated all the participants and Guide teachers and said that India needs such inspirational programs to generate interest in students towards basic sciences. Total two teams participated from VKV JORAM in the District Level NCSC. Km Likha Ania and Tai Roch bagged second position and Joram Nanu & Sorang Tutu got third position. A total number of 10 Teams from different schools of Lower Subansiri District participated with their presentation. Each participant delivered their presentation on the above topic for 6 minutes before a panel of judges. All the top three position holder teams will represent Lower Subansiri District in the State Level National Children Science Congress which will be held in the last week of November 2019.
