
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Joram, observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (World Drug Day) with a series of awareness activities aimed at educating students and the community on the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of living a healthy, drug-free life.
The day began with a special morning assembly, where Shri. Manoj Kumar Mahato addressed the students and staff, highlighting the significance of the day. He stressed on the rising danger of drug use among youth and the collective responsibility to combat it through awareness, education, and personal discipline.
Following the address, a procession was taken up from the VKV School Assembly Ground to UP 73, Joram, involving students of Classes VI, VII, and VIII. The procession was led by teachers Shri. Manoj Kumar Mahato, Shri. Kennedy Rina, and Smti. Mamta Rai Didi. Students carried placards and raised slogans to spread awareness about drug abuse and its consequences among the local public.
Later, a PowerPoint presentation was conducted in the school prayer hall by Shri. Manoj Kumar Mahato for Classes VI, VII, and VIII, covering in detail the causes, side effects, and social impact of drug abuse, along with the government’s efforts to curb it.
Simultaneously, 18 students from VKV Joram participated in a district-level program held at the SP Office, Yachuli, Keyi Panyor District, guided by Shri. Sujit Dey Sir. The event was organized by the Keyi Panyor Police and included a rally against drug abuse and a drawing competition.
The VKV students performed remarkably well in the competition:
Kr. Joram Kayen (Class VIII) and Km. Rido Atey (Class VII) secured the 1st Prize
Kr. Tago Bindu (Class VIII) won the 2nd Prize
Km. Tarh Mama received the 3rd Prize
The winners were felicitated with prizes by the Superintendent of Police, Shri. Angad Mehta.
The combined efforts of the school at both local and district levels made the event a meaningful platform for students to understand and express their stand against drug abuse, reinforcing the importance of conscious and healthy lifestyle choices.
