
The 11th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm and spirit at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Ziro on 21st June 2025 under the global theme “One Earth, One Health”. The school organized events at its own campus as well as at four different locations across Ziro as part of outreach programmes, highlighting the importance of yoga for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
1. Main Celebration at Futsal Ground, Hapoli
In a major collaborative event, VKV Ziro joined hands with the District Administration, District Ayush Society, Medical Department, and the District BJP Unit to conduct a yoga session at the Futsal Ground, Hapoli. The event was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble MLA, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), doctors, public leaders, and members from various walks of life. Students and teachers of VKV Ziro participated actively, making the event inclusive and impactful. A total of 92 participants took part in the session aimed at promoting holistic health through yoga.
2. Outreach Programme at Govt. Secondary School, Tajang
An engaging outreach programme was conducted at Govt. Secondary School, Tajang, Lower Subansiri District. 11 students from VKV Ziro joined 116 students and 30 staff members of the host school. Shri Rubu Duker, Principal of the school and District Adult Education Officer, spoke on the vital role of yoga in everyday life. Under the guidance of Smt. Pranita Ghosh, VKV students demonstrated and led the audience through various asanas, meditation, and physical exercises, making the session interactive and beneficial for all.
3. Joint Celebration with IGTAMSU, Ziro
In partnership with Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University (IGTAMSU), Ziro, VKV Ziro organized a vibrant yoga session on the university campus. The event was attended by 50 VKV students and a large group of IGTAMSU students, totalling approximately 250 participants. The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the students' enthusiasm and highlighted yoga's significance in youth empowerment and stress relief. The collaboration was well-received and commended by all present.
4. Yoga Demonstration at Gandhi Govt. Secondary School, Hapoli
A team from VKV Ziro visited the Gandhi Govt. Secondary School, Hapoli, where they conducted a yoga demonstration and abhyas session with students and teachers. The programme had 35 participants and fostered a sense of shared learning and community spirit.
5. In-House Celebrations at VKV Ziro
Within the school campus, VKV Ziro celebrated the day with a series of activities, including a morning speech, yoga demonstrations, and a variety of literary competitions such as quiz, speech, essay writing, painting, and poster making. The students participated with enthusiasm, showcasing creativity and awareness about the importance of yoga.
All together an attendance of 550 participated in the programme.
