ATL, abbreviated as Atal tinkering Lab an initiative taken by central government to create an environment of scientific temperament, innovation and creativity amongst students. After getting the final nod of installation of ATL, a 3 day workshop was conducted in the premises of VKV, Ziro.

RESOURCE PERSON:

SRI RAVINDRA GODBOLE (Mechanical Engineer, conducts science related activities in schools)
SCHOOL MENTORS:
i) SRI AJAYA SITHA
ii) SRI AMARNATH SAHANI

DAY 1:
Based on the cognitive and scientific temperament 15 students were sorted of classes VIII, IX and X. Ravi Sir asked the students one by one to cite at least one innovative idea. He jotted all the ideas in the blackboard. He laid stress on the word ’Tinkering’ as playing around and meddling with simple stuff, sometimes not even having a clear cut end goal or time limits. A space where one can come and tinker is called Tinkering Lab. He pinpointed that students are highly privileged to get such an opportunity and they should make fullest utilization to the extent. He elucidated ATL comprises simple tools like scissors, cutters, chisel to advanced tools

IDEA GENERATION WITH THE HELP OF STUDENTS

DAY 2:
Students were selected from class VI and VII. They were given the basics of electricity, essential components of electric circuit, usage of voltmeter and ammeter in circuits. To boost their scientific acumen some motivation video clipping were shown and were asked to observe the interconnection of resistors, capacitors and inductors. He demonstrated how a electric circuit can be constructed with a breadboard with low cost electric appliances.

ELECTRIC CIRCUIT USING BREADBOARD

DAY 3:
Students from class VI, VII and from VIVEK INSPIRE which was conducted simultaneously were taken and given an insight of types of mechanical models, role of resistors in circuits, Reed switch usage, how to build a circuit with the help of breadboard, automata with everyday things.

GROUP DISCUSSION WITH STUDENTS
Later on the students were assigned some science activities to do in their leisure time with the help of teachers. Hence the three days workshop ended successfully.
