Library Week was celebrated in VKV Jirdin from 19th of November to 26th of November with much enthusiasm.. A small inaugural programme was kept where in dignitaries from NEFT, West Siang district were present. Dr. Alok Kumar (Registrar, NEFTU) was the Chief Guest of the inaugural function. Some other dignitaries present were lecturers and professors.
The programme was started with lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest. Followed by welcome address by one of the students of class –X. The significance of the day was told by a student of class-X. A patriotic song was presented by the students of class-X and a welcome dance was performed by two students of class -IX. Madame Liyir Bagra (Asst. Professor , NEFTU) interacted with the students of class VI to X. Wherein she spoke and stressed on the importance of reading books and its usefulness in our day to day life. She also wished that apart from being educated one should be a good human being, rich in values and morals.
The Chief Guest shared his experience as a university student of Jawaharlal Nehru University, using of the university library and promoting the reading habit among his university mates and bringing good changes in the campus too. He motivated children to spend more time in library reading good books of great personalities and gaining inspiration from them and to dream big, to be fearless and strive for what actually wants and succeed in it. He concluded by thanking school for inviting and making them a part of the library week programme.
Sri. Samyodeep Chakraborty ( Asst. Professor, NEFTU) enlightened the students regarding various courses provided by NEFT and wished that in days to come he might see some of the VKVians as NEFT students. And they donated a book for the school library
Apart from that, library books and magazines were displayed for the students to promote and develop the reading habit among the students and teachers. A library wall magazine was inaugurated by Principal VKV Jirdin.
Various literary activities were conducted during the library week like English book review, English story telling competition, Hindi elocution competition and Sanskrit prayer chanting competition ,etc.
