VKV Koloriang has celebrated the Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 2019 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of nation - Mahatma Gandhi, at the School Premises in a befitting manner.

The program started with welcome address by Sri Bhim Prasad Upadhyay, Principal of the Vidyalaya. Various awareness and cleanliness programs were conducted as a part of the celebration. Shri Kento Riba, Honorable Deputy Commissioner Kurung Kumey was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, DC gave stress on the Cleanliness and appealed the parents and students of the vidyalaya for the boycott of the use of plastic and also Open Defecation in the Koloriang township and instead of using plastic materials he encouraged to stitch cotton cloths bags and carry with them while going to market for buying any things. Citing the example of the problems faced during post-demonetization days, similar problems may arise but these are temporary and in long run plastic free environment are peoples friendly.  The importance of the Open Defecation Free was told by Dr. Boni Tuluk, Sr. Medical Officer, Koloriang in which he appealed the people to use toilet instead of going to open areas for toilet. There was a program of Solar Lamp making and display by 31 students of the Vidyalaya as a part of Gandhi Global Solar Yatra in which about 1 million students are participating across the globe.  The program was attended by the Parents, students, SMC members, well wishers and medical team, District Hospital, Koloriang.
