The 154th Jayanti of Swami Vivekananda, which is also celebrated as National Youth Day was clubbed with the Culmination of Samarth Bharat Parv and the Annual Day of the Vidyalaya, was organised in the Vidyalaya on 12.01.2017 with a good strength of parents and well wishers along with the inmates of the Vidyalaya.

The programme was witnessed by all the parents of both the hosteller and day scholar students of the Vidyalaya. Sri. Rottom Lobo, alumni of VKVs Sher and Balijan and currently serving as the Site Engineer (Electrical), GE Power India, Ltd (Former M/s ALSTOM) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with his spouse Dr. Smt. Yangam Chamrak. The significance of the day speech was delivered by Sri.R.Murugan, the Principal of the Vidyalaya following a formal welcome of the Chief Guest and the gathering. He highlighted the significance of the three auspicious occasions of the day and presented the annual report of the school in a pinpointed way with a special focus on the achievements of the Vidyalaya in various aspects. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the parents and well wishers and all the officials of Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project of NHPC at Gerukamukh on behalf of the entire family of the Vidyalaya for extending their fullest co operation to the Vidyalaya, for its success. The Chief Guest gave away the prizes for the winners of a few sports activities conducted during the Annual Sports and Cultural Meet. He recalled his school days and expressed his happiness to be the Chief Guest on this auspicious occasion. He insisted the students to be well disciplined and also appealed the parents to be with the part of the school for the betterment of the society as a whole and their wards in particular. The students presented a sequence of colourful cultural programmes comprising of Quotation Presentation, Patriotic Song in Group both by boys and girls separately. In addition to this the girls of Class III and IV presented a traditional dance, which gained a good applause from the gathering. Sri. Keshab Upadhyaya, Teacher of the Vidyalaya, delivered the vote of thanks and the programme concluded with Shanti Mantra. The total attendance of the programme stood as 256 including the inmates of the Vidyalaya.

The significant climax of the celebration was that the Chief Guest, Sri. Rottom Lobo, whole heartedly enrolled himself as a Perpetual Patron of Vivekananda Kendra by donating an amount of Rs. 10000 (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) with an earnest request that it need not have a disclosure among the gathering.
