Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Roing, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great pride, enthusiasm, and patriotic spirit. The celebration began early in the morning at 5:30 am with a colourful and energetic procession. All the students, dressed neatly in their uniforms, marched from the school gate through part of the town market. Their loud and inspiring patriotic slogans echoed through the streets, drawing the attention of shopkeepers, residents, and passers-by, and spreading the spirit of freedom across the community.
At 6:10 am, the entire school assembled on the ground for the formal programme. The Principal, Sri Shyamal Chakraborty, hoisted the national flag with dignity, while the gathering proudly sang the National Anthem. He then inspected the smartly turned-out contingents of the school’s march-past teams and band. The students displayed remarkable discipline, coordination, and confidence, filling the audience with pride.
In his speech, Sri Shyamal Chakraborty spoke warmly about India’s progress since independence and reminded everyone of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. He urged the students to take inspiration from their dedication and to contribute positively to the nation’s growth. “Our independence was hard-earned,” he said, “and it is our duty as responsible citizens to protect and preserve it.”
Later, at 9:00 am, the boys’ and girls’ march-past contingents, along with the school band, took part in the District Administration’s Independence Day parade at the General Ground. The school band’s outstanding performance drew much appreciation from the audience, and the girls’ march-past team participated in the district parade after many years, making the occasion even more memorable.
A total of 588 students from Classes I to XII and 32 teachers and staff members joined in the celebrations, making it a day filled with unity, joy, and deep respect for the nation.
