Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Itanagar in collaboration with the Arunachal Literary Society observed "International Mother Language Day" to mark this special day "Storytelling Competition in regional dialects" was held on 22/02/2021 at Eknathji Centenary Bhavan.

There were 12 participants from class VI to IX they had told stories in their own mother tongues  Nyshi, Apatani, Galo, Idu-Mishmi and Nocte. Traditional Dance and Patriotic song by XI-Hum girls have added the special grandeur to the program. Assessment of stories was done by language experts nominated by APLS.

Shri. Passang Dorjee Sona, Speaker State Assembly, Arunachal Pradesh as chief guest along with Shri. Hayeng Mangfi, MLA Chayangtajo Constituency witnessed the occasion and observed the competition.

Shri. Passang Dorjee Sona, Speaker has urged the participants to learn their mother tongues and use it in their conversation that will help them to preserve their dialects. He has appreciated the efforts of all candidates to narrate the story in their dialects. In order to enhance literary activities and promote a good source of literature, he has proposed the aid of 3 lack rupees for the library up-gradation.

All the winners of the competition were felicitated with certificate and cash prizes by the chief guest and other dignitaries.

Dr Kakade Rajendra C. Principal delivered the vote of thanks to one and all present on the occasion.
