A three day National yoga Olympiad was inaugurated at the National council of education research and training in CIET in new Delhi by Mr. Eric Falt Director and UNESCO representative of the new Delhi cluster office for India, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

This was the 4th consecutive year of National Yoga Olympiad of NCERT and this year about 32 states and for regional institute was participated in the Olympiad.

It was a proud moment for Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas that our four boys and four girls along with two teachers from VKV Itanagar represented Arunachal Pradesh at secondary level in the National yoga Olympiad. The details of participants are as follows:-

Professor Hrushikesh Senapaty, director NCERT welcomed everybody cordially. In the welcome address Prof. Hrushikesh Senapati, congratulated the teachers and students who have come from district level to state level and finally to the National level to participated in National Yoga Olympiad 2019.

Thus three day National Yoga Olympiad concluded with great presentation of Yoga practice by both boys and girls of different states.

After the occasion the competition of yoga was started. It was divided in to four categories.

  2. Upper Primary (Boys)
  3. Secondary (Girls)
  4. Secondary (Boys)

The competition continued on 18th June 2019. On next day i.e on 19th June, there was Delhi Dharshan, where the students not only enjoyed but learned lots of things. On 20th June, three days national yoga Olympiad concluded at All India Council for Technical Education, in New Delhi. Prizes to the children of winner states were distributed by the chief guest on the occasion Mrs. Rina Ray, Secretary, School Education and Literacy, MHRD was the chief Guest in the function and distributed the prizes to the children of winner states and UTs.

Speaking on occasion, Rina Ray appreciated the efforts of the Director, NCERT and his team for arranging a splendid programme on yoga. She emphasized that yoga reduces stress and make us strong.

If we are strong then our family will be strong, our society will become stronger and ultimately our country will be strong. Children should teach yoga to their parents so that they can also lead a peaceful and stress-free life. Teachers and principals must also do yoga to live a tension-free life. Ms. Ray further said that if we all perform yoga, I am sure it will reduce tension in society. Now, the whole world is looking towards yoga. It is need of the hour that all teachers to principals, directorate to education officers everybody should practise yoga to lead a healthy and good life.

Mentioning that Mizoram team has not come this year, she said we may strive to make all 36 States and UTs participate in the Yoga Olympiad from the next year.
