Dr. THONGCHI, DISTRICT TUBERCLOSIS OFFICER, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh conducted Anti Junk food Awareness Programme in VKV, Itanagar, today. 700 students and Teachers attended the class.

Consumption of HFSS (High fat, Salt and Sugar) foods has been found to be associated with many diseases including type 2 dibetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, chronic inflammation and hyperinsulinemia with a risk of cardiovascular diseases in later life. These diseases and childhood obesity have been reportedly found to affect the cognitive and physical development of children adversely, causing an irreparable loss to the society. He said students should avoid HFSS foods such as chips, fried foods, and carbonated beverages, ready to eat noodles, pizzas, potato fries and confectionary items, chocolates, candies, samosos, bread pakora e.t.c

Instead he advised the students to consume Healthy food items which contain enough fibers, minerals, vitamins and other nutrients for proper health.
