EVENT REPORT - The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organised a two-days Capacity Building Programme on “Upholding Ethics and Integrity in school”. The workshop which was organized for teachers and was conducted at Global Academy, Premnagar, Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh on 8 and 9 November 2019. The resource person was Shri Dr. Sumin Prakash, assistant professor Department of Education, RGU Rono Hills, Doimukh (AP). I got an opportunity to attend program, it would be useful to the children’s of our school.

The two days session began with a lot of interesting activities in which the first activity, each teacher was asked to make cartoon of their own and exchange their picture to each other and try to identify the cartoon picture by matching the face of each one’s . It was then followed by an introduction and a discussion on Ethics and Integrity.

The session mainly focused on Cognitive Dissonance, Understanding Integrity and approaching Ethics and Integrity through AV media.

It was a great learning experience, as it helped the teachers to adopt various strategy to make the teaching and learning process more effective. There were many topics which were covered in the two-days programme such as Understanding Integrity, What does integrity entail?, Kohlberg’s stages of moral development and A to Z of Ethics, approaching Ethics and Integrity through AV media, Teacher/elders as role model and creating space for Integrity in Classrooms. The workshop revolved around active discussions between the teachers and the resource persons.

Teachers were introduced to How do children learn to be honest, respect societal norms, and act in ways consistent with the values, beliefs, and moral principles they claim to hold?. Teachers were divided into different groups and they actively participated in programme. It was a fun-filled and enriching session.

The workshop concluded with this thought that teachers should comprehend the child’s mind and try various ways to reach their level to enlighten and assess their knowledge.
