VKV Longding, in collaboration with 24th Assam Rifles Longding and District Hospital Longding, celebrated International Yoga Day in our vidyalaya on 21st June 2025 with the active participation of the students, teachers, team of Assam Rifles, and other members of our vidyalaya. The school initiated the program at 9:30 am onwards with Mangalacharan, followed by lighting the lamp. The Chief Guest, Dr. Jayant Prasad (Doctor, 24th Assam Rifles, Longding) graced the program. Shri Samiran Barua, principal of the Vidyalaya, extended his warm welcome to one and all present on the occasion. He highlighted the importance of yoga in our lives. He says that doing yoga every day improves attention and focus, boosts academic performance, develops motor skills, and has innumerable benefits that positively affect an individual both physically and mentally. He also felicitated the guest with a token of love. The students of class V in the program also sang a song of Swami Vivekananda. The significance of the day was highlighted by Su. Lama Chotton. During her address, she explained the importance of yoga in our lives. Yoga was demonstrated by Su. Sumitra Borgohain. 
     All the participants enthusiastically performed warming exercises, Yogasanas, Breathing exercises, Surya Namaskar, and Pranayama.          
Dr. Jayant Prasad (Chief guest) thanked all the staff for inviting him to the program. He appreciated the students for their wonderful performance in the program. He advised the students to do yoga on a regular basis. Yoga is a gift to humanity. Practicing yoga regularly can lead to a healthier body, a calmer mind, and a more focused life. It is not just an exercise; it is a way of life that leads us towards peace and happiness. 
Dr. Khamhee Wangsa (Doctor District Hospital Longding) also highlighted the importance of yoga in our daily life. Yoga helps improve general wellness by relieving stress, supporting good health habits, and improving mental, emotional health, sleep, and balance. She urged the students and all the participants to do yoga regularly. Shri Gobin Basnet paid a vote of thanks in the program.
On 20th June yoga demonstration was done for classes I to IV in the 5th and 6th periods by Su. Sumitra Borgohain and Su. Lama Chotton and an outreach program were conducted at KGBV Senua by Sri Saroj Kumar Sharma and Su. Banjita Patir, where Sri Saroj Kumar Sharma highlighted the importance of the day and Su. Banjita Patir demonstrated yoga. A total 61 numbers of participants attended the program at KGBV.
