This school, started in 1977, is one of the first seven VKVs started in Arunachal Pradesh in that year. It is a co-education school. It is located in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. This district is surrounded by Lohit district in the North, Myanmar (Burma) in South, China in East, and Assam in West. The inhabitants of the district are mainly Tangsa tribe. The district is insurgency affected. This school is up to Secondary Level, and is of residential nature with hostel facilities for boys only. This school mostly serves the local Tangsa community of Changlang district and Wangchu and Nocte communities of Tirap district.
